Please forgive me . . . I know I promised a mini to share a few days ago but I never made it over here to blogger to post. It has been a hectic week with this crazy snow & it looks like we are expecting more on Monday - ahhhhhhhhh!!! Believe me, I am a lover of snow and all things winter - but I think I have reached full capacity in regards to this winter season - bring on some spring :)

Now, be kind - I have only ever completed one other mini & that was years ago. I have started many, but never finished them - I am more of a one-page layout kind of gal :) Creating a mini was a bit daunting at first for me but I really enjoyed the process & loved the fact that I actually did quite a bit of journaling. I am one of those scrappers that struggles with "putting the words down" so this was a great opportunity to tell the story so to speak. I used the adorable Scooter's Vacation line from Imaginisce & created this little mini of our trip to Canada last January.

I definitely struggled with taking the pics - I usually scan my layouts but couldn't scan the mini so I would love any tips on photographing minis . . . feel free to comment on this - I'd love to know your thoughts :)

Anyone looking for some scrapping fun this weekend??? Color Me Daisy is hosting a FABULOUS "Organize Your Heart" Crop through this weekend - there are tons of awesome challenges & games and wonderful prizes to be won :) I created a card sketch for my challenge (my first one) . . .

And here is a sample using CMD's February Main Kit . . .

Check back tomorrow - I have more scrappy projects to share!!!

  2. Love the album AND the adorable card Julie! I cannot believe how much journaling you did!!! I looks just fabulous. I love how you tied it all together with those cool black zig-zag stitches. Fabulous~

You must be enjoying seeing Whistler on the Olymipcs!!! It really is one of the most gorgeous places that I have ever been!

P.S. Your photography looks fine! With mini-albums I sometimes put something related in the picture for scale, like in this case perhaps a ski hat and goggles~

  5. Julie, your mini is wonderful!! I am glad you and Justin were able to get away for a while!! My DH would of rented the snowmobile for sure!!! LOL He loves it, and has done plenty in the past! Wish we had your snow, so he could go riding again. We haven't had any good snow like that since '91. I think your photos turned out great. I always take mine where there is quite a bit of indirect natural lighting.

  6. Oh, what a beautiful little mini! I'm from British Columbia, so I'm so glad that you got to experience the beauty of that place. It's neat to see places you recognize in the Olympics footage, hey? Thanks so much for posting! I'll be interested to see what people have to say about photography, because that's something I'm not sure about, either! Do you have a 12x2 scanner, or do you combine scans? I'd love to hear how you do that!

  7. Julie, I LOVE your mini album!! Don't be shy about making more, you are awesome at it!!! I have not really gotten into them much either. The vacation sounded great. Well, of course it would be, you came to Canada! ;) I'm one province over in Alberta. We went to Victoria last spring. B.C sure is beautiful. I just can't get enough of the mountains!!! I used to live further south in Alberta and could see the foothills from my balcony. I miss that. Love your card too! Great card sketch!!

  10. I love your mini! You really got a lot of journaling in there- something that I struggle with. I think your pics look great. I never had the urge to create a mini, but I might give it a shot. You're great inspiration!

  12. Love your mini, you did a great job! That was a lot of journaling, too. I am like you, I have a very hard time writing down all the things that should be said about my pictures.

  13. Julie, your mini is awesome and the pics of it are great, although, I love Kristie's suggestion above. I love doing mini's - especially when I go away for a crop (gives me one thing to focus on) at home I usually do just layouts. I am a "just the facts" kind of journaler!
